“Bright”

16”x20” Acrylic on Canvas

$240

I actually had a dream about this painting, and so I just had to paint it. The image may be self-explanatory, but regardless, my dream was very specific. I wanted a bright-colored fish swimming in the opposite direction of all the other fish, who were more of the cool-toned colors. I wanted his brightness to reflect on the surrounding fish. I wanted him to be looking straight forward, while all the other fish swam around him, looking at him, wondering what he was doing. He doesn’t care about what they’re doing, but they seem to care about what he’s doing, don’t they? It felt like a powerful image of the way we ought to be. Be willing to confidently shine your brightness in the world, even if you’re the only one, and don’t worry about what anyone else is doing but yourself.
This painting was one of several pieces chosen to be displayed among the Jamestown, NY Artscape 2026. It is on a banner hanging up, still. Check it out!
